Lincoln Legacy Committee

The Lincoln Legacy Committee is committed to preserving the history of Abraham Lincoln's experience in Champaign County. They have sponsored an exhibit documenting this in the Champaign County Courthosue. The Lincoln Exhibit is housed on the first floor adjacent to the Jury Assembly rooms. The structure is designed to resemble a log cabin, similar to the structure Lincoln would have recognized as he traveled the 8th Judicial Circuit as a circuit rider. The Exhibit is an 8-minute video narrated by a Lincoln voice describing the cases Lincoln handled at the Urbana courthouse and in central Illinois.

Special tours of the courthouse, including the Lincoln Exhibit, can be arranged by contacting the Sheriff’s Office at 217 384-3818.
