Sousa Archives &

Center for American Music

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

Uncover and discover America’s grand musical heritage! The Sousa Archives and Center for American Music holds the world’s largest collection of original music compositions by John Philip Sousa.

In addition, historical sound recordings, photographs, music instruments, and sound recording machines document the American band movement, electronic and avant-garde music, world music, and rock and roll in Champaign-Urbana.

Our exhibitions allow visitors to actively experience the sights, sounds, and stories of America’s exciting musical past. Knowledgeable staff members provide tours to both small and large groups, and special concerts on our historical instruments are performed regularly throughout the community.

Let us be your first stop for all your musical adventures.
